Performance Enhancement
Making the impossible possible, the possible easy, and the easy elegant
—Moshe Feldenkrais
The words of Moshe Feldenkrais speak to my intention in working with my clients. .
Sometimes people come because an injury is restricting participation in something they love, and sometimes they come purely for help with performance issues.
Central to my work is guiding you through an exploration of the connection between how you are moving and your challenges. To do this I use my keen ability to compare what you are doing to what is more optimal. I have been honing this skill for nearly 40 years, and more than one person has called me a “movement detective.”
I also do anatomical assessments looking for a possible root cause of what is going on so I can explore with you possible remedies and accommodations for what I find.
With the above in mind, I facilitate your making changes that can help you do what you want to do with greater ease and at a higher level of performance as well as relieve any related pain.
Typically, this will involve guided movement informed by the Feldenkrais® method as well as other disciplines I have studied.
My sessions often involve working with the implements of your chosen activity.
I can also apply this process to any ergonomic concern.
My individual sessions are about one hour long. In your first session/consultation we will discuss your current situation and your desired outcome. I will share how together we can work to help you achieve that!
If you are local to Bainbridge Island and would like to work in-person, please ask if that might be possible.
