Welcome to the Crafters’ Corner
For someone who typically resists “challenges”, I joined one in 2018 – mostly because friends were involved and I thought it would be easy. The challenge was how close could you come to knitting every day for the year. Well, it is April of 2025 as I write this, and I still have not missed a day. A day without knitting would be like a day without …… (Fill in the blank with something that makes sense for you.)
Knitting, as well as other crafts like crochet and sewing that I am far less skilled at, provide me with a creative outlet and so much more. Many, many books and articles have been written about knitting as a form of self-care and/or meditation. I am so on board with this.
The sometimes, sad truth is that knitters, crocheters and other crafters often experience overuse injuries. If you want a sustainable resolution of these it is critical to get to the root cause – typically something about your unique movement/posture while crafting.
Over the years I have taught countless “more comfortable crafting” classes at yarn shops as well as working one on one with individuals. Now with the availability of modern technology I would like to offer my services to a wider audience.
Do you have crafting related pain or discomfort?
Would you like guidance in using knit or crochet as a mindfulness practice?
