Thank you for signing up for Moving Well News. Here are the complementary explorations I promised.
The Crunchy Bread Challenge
This is also application to sawing wood and similar activities.
- You have a really crunchy loaf of bread in front of you (or you can imagine this.)
- You place your knife on it and start cutting – and cutting – and you still have not gotten through the crust. Your arm might be getting tired. See if you can notice where your effort is coming from. I suspect it is mostly at the shoulder.
- Now stagger your feet a bit and place the knife on the bread. Begin to shift your body weight forward and back as you cut. What is your experience? Most folks find it a lot easier.
Awareness of Habit
Please enjoy this short exploration of a habit you’re likely were unaware that you had. Habits that exist- often below our conscious awareness can play a key role in the physical as well as other types of discomfort we experience.
